MMFM Announces Five New “Master Shots” and
“Meetup at the Market” for the 43rd Miami Film Festival

The Miami Media & Film Market (MMFM) and the Miami Film Festival (MFF) have revealed the five official “Master Shots” for the Miami Film Festival’s 43rd edition, set to take place between April 9-19, 2026.

These special industry events, under the banner “Master Shots - Indie Film Means Business” will cover a wide range of industry disciplines from indie producing, to casting, sales & distribution, major festivals, as well as trending topics such as how current and future technologies will affect the global screen industry.

In addition, MMFM and CAMACOL will be hosting its first ever “Meetup at the Market” during the Festival on April 16th. Sponsored by Sedano’s and Pepsi Co, this exclusive luncheon and networking event will take place at CAMACOL / MMFM HQ (1401 West Flagler Street, Miami). In celebration of the Miami Film Festival’s dynamic community of filmmakers and industry leaders, MMFM will bring together producers, executives and creative entrepreneurs for networking and strategic dialogue. The Five official Master Shots for 2026 include:

  • CASTING CALL - Join us for a conversation with top casting director Brenden Rodriguez, whose work includes acclaimed series like The Boys, GEN V, The Perfect Couple, and Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and who most recently cast the highly anticipated Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot. Rodriguez has had the pleasure of working with producers and directors such as Chloe Zhao, Seth Rogen, and Susanne Bier. This is a breakdown of what it takes to launch a successful on-camera talent career and achieve that next-level booking.   • IN CONVERSATION WITH EUGENE HERNANDEZ - Eugene Hernandez, festival director and head of public programming for Sundance, joins Miami Film Festival for an exclusive and intimate conversation about his career and experience working at America's most prestigious film festival. Prior to joining Sundance, Hernandez served as festival director of the New York Film Festival, and was also a co-founder and the editor-in-chief of IndieWire, which he helped build over 15 years into the leading editorial publication for independent and international films, filmmakers, industry, and audiences.   • PLAYABLE CINEMA: FILM MEETS GAME ENGINE - A response to game engines like Unreal and Unity being used by filmmakers to craft immersive, branching, and nonlinear experiences, this interactive presentation invites creators and technologists to discuss how “playable” stories are reshaping cinema. Featuring Dean Lyon, a world-renowned visual effects creator and computer graphics innovator, and Kevin Sharpley, president/CEO of Kijik Multimedia, a production company specializing in integrated, branded, and convergent media and development of in-house projects.   • THE PERFECT PACKAGE: INDIE FILM MEANS BUSINESS - An in-depth session on the latest packaging, sales, and distribution strategies for indie features and TV with agent Cristina Garza of United Talent Agency (UTA’s) Independent Film Group. Among her prior roles, Garza served as SVP of TV development and production at Fifth Season, head of Latino content at Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios, and ran distribution for the Mexico City-based production and distribution company founded by Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna, and Pablo Cruz.
